Tonnage Payments

For every ton of waste that is disposed of in the Epperson Landfill, the company has agreed to pay Grant County a fee.

In 2004, Epperson Waste paid Grant County $564,048 in fees. Those fees are over and above taxes that Epperson pays as a business in the County. This is money that the County deposits into its general fund and spends for the benefit of all Grant Countians.

Just since 2002, Epperson has paid the County, over and above its normal taxes, more than $2.1 million. We call these fees "host fees" and they are paid to the County under an Agreement between Epperson and Grant County. Epperson has been paying these host fees for the past 13 years, since July 1, 1992. Partly as a result of these payments, taxes for the citizens of Grant County have been held down, and services to the citizens have held steady or increased.
